Summary of Position

Headlight Consulting Services seeks consultant(s) to provide short-term qualitative analysis coding support on an Outcome Harvesting Evaluation. Through coding, our team will seek to understand and examine what, if any, outcomes/changes or unintended effects have occurred as a result of the Activity implementation. This is a part-time (20-30 hours/week) and remote position that will report to the Methodologist supporting this evaluation (located in Washington, DC). It is required that the applicant is based in the U.S., with the ability to work U.S. East Coast time zone working hours.

Responsibilities

The Coding consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, depending on need, but are likely to include the following outlined responsibilities in support of the Outcome Harvesting evaluation:

  • Conduct cleaning and qualitative coding of interviews received from the data collection throughout the evaluation
  • Maintain and update the codebook iteratively
  • Contribute to outcome mapping during and after coding to make sense of the identified outcomes
  • Apply feedback from the supervisor to edit code applications accordingly
  • Regularly participate in team communications to maintain consistency and quality assurance throughout data collection and analysis
  • Provide quality assurance of all deliverables
  • Maintain trackers on the progress of requested/assigned tasks
  • Contribute to individual and team work planning and coordination
  • Potentially continue support in the initial stages of qualitative analysis by contributing to prioritize and consolidate findings to understand the who, what, where, when, and how details of the identified change/outcome

Qualifications

  • Master’s in Political Science, International Relations, or related disciplines or a Bachelor’s and an additional 3 years of experience in qualitative analysis
  • 2-3 years of professional experience in international development and/or monitoring and evaluation preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with qualitative coding required, and use of associated applications such as Dedoose is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with USAID’s organizational structure, program cycle, and operating context, advantageous but not required
